How can I make my Mic louder?

I have a desk mic, and a headset mic. Oddly enough, the headset mic output volume is less, close to near silent, than my stand mic.

I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64. before that I had Windows XP Professional SP3, and i could be a foot away and people would still hear me clearly. On vista, I have to get about 3 inches away from the mic for people to hear me.

I went to recording options and nothing was out of the ordinary there. the output volume was 100. I have mic boost on. Still emits my voice on a low volume.
I'd like to point out I had complications with XP SP3. Specifics that I will not go to.

But I would also like to point out, this mic problem that is occurring, happened with XP SP2 aswell.

It's just SP3 that did something

This is my first buy at Chinavasion. These GPS is perfect. Very usefull and the sisor is great.

I am an actual buyer from Australia - I buy these and sell them online.

They are a simply amazing product for the price. I am in fact angry because they are better than my $300 Mio GPS system, which I bought on sale.
They are easy to use, have amazing features such as ebook, able to play movies, FM transmitter so the directions sound over the radio; they are slim and good looking. I have only had one problem with my order's and that was one order not coming with power adapter converters for Australian power sockets.

They really are a good buy and I recommend them to any one!
