Computer Voice Recognition Software

What software can I use to dictate directly to my computer with the intent of creating digital audio files?
I'm not looking for voice recognition software, but rather I want to create an MP3, or similar, file that I can burn on to a CD. I want to capture narrative from family and preserve their stories in their own voices...
Windows Sound Recorder won't do it, because it only handles files up to a minute long. Quality is not really an issue, because digital audio is digital audio-- the recording software just stores it. If you want to mess with it after recording it, that's another story, but in general, anything that can record it successfully will produce the same results, quality-wise, depending on your hardware (especially the microphone!).
There are lots of apps out there; some are free, some are inexpensive, and some are very expensive indeed. GoldWave is a good choice: inexpensive, been around for years, quite versatile. Adobe Audition is more powerful and more professional, but more expensive. Those would be my strongest recommendations.

The 2007-2012 Outlook For Voice-Recognition Dictation Software In Japa $609 This study covers the latent demand outlook for voice-recognition dictation software across the prefectures and cities of Japan. Latent demand (in millions of U.S. dollars), or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.) estimates are given across some 1,000 cities in Japan. For each city in question, the percent share the city is of its prefecture and of Japan is reported. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a city vis-`-vis others. This statistical approach can prove very useful to distribution and/or sales force strategies. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each prefecture and city, latent demand estimates are created for voice-recognition dictation software. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved. |

Windows Speech Recognition Programming: With Visual Basic and ActiveX $31.16 Speech software has been a hot topic in the computer industry for as long as there have been computers. Computer speech has been around in one form or another for over 30 years, but early speech software could only run on very big and expensive computer hardware.pThanks to Microsoft, the size of your computer is no longer a major limitation to computer speech. Just like with so many other computer technologies, it took Microsoft to make speech software easy to program, and even easier for PC users to use speech to control their Windows software applications.pWith Windows Visual Basic ActiveX Voice Control Automation Services, Speech API (SAPI) and Speech Suite Software Development Kit (SDK), complex computer speech synthesis, and even speech recognition, has become more accessible to all programmers for use in their multi-media business, education and recreational applications.pThis book offers the reader a detailed exploration of Windows Speech Automation Services via Visual Basic ActiveX Voice Controls available in MS Speech API Versions 4.0 to 5.1, as well as third-party SAPI vendor SDKs such as IBM ViaVoice and Dragon NatSpeak. It provides a thorough introduction to Windows Speech Recognition Programming for beginning as well as advanced programmers. |

Speech Recognition: Theory and C++ Implementation $115.89 Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) is the enabling technology for hands-free dictation and voice-triggered computer menus. It is becoming increasingly prevalent in environments such as private telephone exchanges and real-time information services. Speech Recognition introduces the principles of ASR systems, including the theory and implementation issues behind multi-speaker continuous speech recognition. Focusing on the algorithms employed in commercial and laboratory systems, the treatment enables the reader to devise practical solutions for ASR system problems. It addresses in detail C++ programming techniques used to develop ASR applications, thus offering skills that will prove useful in any large C++ based software project. Possible extensions of the well-established ASR technology are highlighted, based on Hidden Markov Models applied to fields such as modelling and prediction of econometric series. Wall-e Case Mod - Voice Recognition
Transcription Voice Recognition Tools that will revolutionize the Industry
When it comes to building a better mousetrap, some companies have already done it. You may already have heard of transcription voice recognition software that can take the spoken word that is saved in an audio file format and convert it into text. The fact that the software exists at all and enables much of the typing required in industries like medical transcription has saved countless millions of keystrokes. Not only that, but the software continues to improve and the future of this technology is bright.
Not only will the medical field benefit from the advancement stay in the technology of transcription voice recognition software, but a number of other fields will also feel the positive effects. Anyone who writes for a living or spends most of their day on a keyboard will welcome the technology that allows them to speak to their computer. Imagine that someday the software will be advanced enough that people will be dictating emails, ebooks, articles and research papers to their computers to name just a few. It is likely that it will change the way that students learn.
The advancements in transcription voice recognition software have come so far already it is easy to see in the near future a change in the way the offices are made so that people will have the ability to speak to their computers. It may not be long before almost every office looks like that of a medical transcriptionist’s and everybody will have a microphone of some sort in order to transcribe directly to their computer.
In the medical profession, this has already proven to be responsible for large changes. Before the implementation of transcription voice recognition software, medical transcription was already a huge and growing field. Now with this new software, medical transcriptionists will be better able to produce large volumes of work with improved quality. Instead of spending vast amounts of time hammering a keyboard, these recognition software can take the audio file that is provided by the medical professional and convert it into text so that it can be reviewed by the transcriptionist.
It may be a concern of some that certain jobs will become obsolete as a result of transcription voice recognition software’s proliferation. There are certain industries that may not hire as many people because they are simply more efficient. The truth is that any technology that moves us forward often creates more jobs than it will eliminate. There are no more jobs for people who use typewriters, but those people have gone on to have better jobs that pay well and are more satisfying.
There is an incredible future ahead for transcription voice recognition software, and there will be a day not too far off in the future when nearly all of us can benefit from its use in one form or another. This can either be from the direct effect of using it personally or an indirect benefit from being provided better service by an industry that has learned how to take advantage of this technology.
