Dragon Voice Recognition
How do I stop my laptop from switching to American English when the set default is Australian? ?
I use Dragon Voice Recognition, and American spellings are highlighted. I'd like to stop this, but can't get the set default to hold. It has been suggested that the machine switches when Messenger switches on - which is immediately desktop opens. I can't find where to switch off Messenger to find out. Can anyone help?
Did you make the change in the Control Panel under Regional and Language settings?
You can stop Messenger from starting with windows in its preferences/options.

I want to fix my kid up with voice recognition on the computer.?
I was thinking that Dragon would be the way to go. I then heard that windows 7 has voice recognition built in. Has anybody used that? Do I just need a microphone to make it work? My computer has not yet arrived, so I was wondering if it was necessary to buy a Dragon separately.
Does anybody have experience with either system or on a laptop that they would like to share? I would be most grateful to hear your stories. Thank you

Yes, all but Windows 7 Starter Edition have Speech Recognition built-in (in the Control Panel).
And, you will need a decent Microphone, if your new PC doesn't already have one built-in.
