Voice recording and using voice recognition to transcribe?
Could anyone describe an effective and economical method of taking notes via a voice recorder then playing that back on a pc and having the pc transcribe it for you. Use would be for road inspections. So drive along taking notes. then back in the office have those notes written up for collation
Software and hardware tips appreciated.
Yes i know transcription services are available but as the long term cost of using a transcriber may be higher than a one off acquisition cost i would like to know what is available. If, that is, there is actually anything advanced enough to do this yet
Microsoft Office has this ability in theory.
You have to "train" it to the sound of your voice by reading paragraph after paragraph of text for it.
If you already have Office, you might see if the speech recognition module is already installed.
I could never get it to work very well, but you may have better luck. Other that Microsoft, there are probably several other speech recognition software packages out there.
One thing. When training the software, you should probably read the stuff into your recorder just as you would in the car. Background noise and all. The recorder will slightly change the timbre of your voice and the noise from the car might make it unfeasible.

The 2007-2012 Outlook For Voice-Recognition Dictation Software In Japa $609 This study covers the latent demand outlook for voice-recognition dictation software across the prefectures and cities of Japan. Latent demand (in millions of U.S. dollars), or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.) estimates are given across some 1,000 cities in Japan. For each city in question, the percent share the city is of its prefecture and of Japan is reported. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a city vis-`-vis others. This statistical approach can prove very useful to distribution and/or sales force strategies. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each prefecture and city, latent demand estimates are created for voice-recognition dictation software. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved. |

The Art and Business of Speech Recognition: Creating the Noble Voice $12.94 pbBlade Kotelly/bis the Creative Director of Interface Design for SpeechWorks International, a leading provider of automated speech-recognition software products and services. In addition to United Airlines, he has worked on applications for Apple Computer, E*TRADE, McKesson, Fidelity Investments IBG, FedEx, and others. A frequent conference speaker and university lecturer, Blade has had his work and ideas featured byiThe New York Times/i,iThe Washington Post/i,iThe Wall Street Journal/i, the BBC, and National Public Radio./pbrbr0321154924AB12242002pSpeech-recognition technology increasingly is being used in a variety of over-the-phone applications in the transportation, financial, telecommunications, and other industries. Most people by now have experienced at least one automated phone system, where questions are posed by a computer to callers seeking help or information, and the callers' spoken answers are understood and acted on by that computer. In the best cases, the computer even sounds human!/ppGiven the rapid emergence of these applications, the time seems right for a concise overview of the topic—a guide for business managers looking for new and better ways to engage and service their customers, a resource for designers getting started with voice applications (or refreshing their current knowledge), a good read for anyone interested in this exciting technology. Having built applications in many of these industries, I feel well-positioned, and eager, to explain important aspects of the art and business of speech recognition, and to illuminate the extraordinary returns a well-designed and well-deployed over-the-phone system can yield—increased revenues, lower costs, customer satisfaction and retention, and brand development. Speech-recognition technology can give a company an identifiable and welcome voice—a noble voice, even—and in this book I mean to show how./ppThe key to voice-application success, @)áG®záÿ¾Úð |

The 2006 Economic And Product Market Databook For Santa Maria, Brazil $129 In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have occasionally been asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services in Brazil. The purpose of this study is to understand the density of demand within Brazil and the extent to which Santa Maria might be used as a point of distribution within Latin America. From an economic perspective, however, Santa Maria does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries, rather, it represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another. In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for Santa Maria over the next five years for hundreds of industries, categories and products. The goal of this report is to report the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by Santa Maria when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales. For many items, latent demand is clearly observable in sales, as in the case for food or housing items. Consider, however, the category satellite launch vehicles. Clearly, there are no launch pads in Santa Maria used by the space industry to launch satellites. However, the core benefit of the vehicles (e.g. telecommunications, etc.) is consumed by the area served by Santa Maria. Without Santa Maria, in other words, the market for satellite launch vehicles would be lower for the population in Brazil, Latin America, or the world in general. One needs to allocate, therefore, a portion of the worldwide economic demand for launch vehicles to both Latin America and Santa Maria. The data presented are the result of various spatial econometric and time-series forecasting models which, for each category presented, are applied to forecast and allocate demand across all countries of the world and major distribution centers or@` |

Navigon 4310max Swedish audivisual product description
best voice recognition, wordprocessing software????
I am looking for a voice recognition system that i can use to 'type' letters and word documents. Can anyone advise me on some good software / hardware for this.
Than Q
Dragon is what i would recommend
Plz keep in mind though that any voice recognition is neither easy nor perfect
U will take time learning it and making the software recognise ur voice
even after that the ware will make errors
so it is useful..but we havent reached a stage where its a walk in the park
I have also seen people using the speech recognition in windows vista..though i dont have ne personal experience of that
IGNORE THE FIRST PERSONS REPLY
that program is TEXT TO SPEECH
